devolo at Power2Drive Europe: Smart solutions for networking the charging infrastructure

Not only does the ever-growing electric vehicle charging infrastructure require a robust power supply, but it also demands modern data networking. The network specialists at devolo develop cost-effective and easily scalable solutions for networking AC charging points smartly. Business customers and press representatives can experience this for themselves at Power2Drive Europe in Munich, from 7 to 9 May 2025!
Modern networking of the AC charging infrastructure
The mobility revolution has brought with it significant challenges in terms of infrastructure. The demand for charging points is rising steadily – and they need more than just electricity. Reliable data connectivity is critical to the efficient use of functions such as load management, billing and access control. This adds to the complexity of the planning process, and increases costs, since additional wiring and network components are needed. These equipment needs also make it more difficult to expand existing charging stations retroactively. At Power2Drive Europe, devolo solutions GmbH is presenting alternatives that minimise these challenges significantly.
devolo MultiNode LAN
The devolo MultiNode LAN is a specially developed powerline adapter for networking AC charging points. It can be integrated directly into the wall box or a tap-off unit and uses the existing power line or busbar for the data transmission. It eliminates LAN wiring expenses, and the installation requires minimal effort. A central MultiNode LAN device is connected to the router via Ethernet cable, from where it communicates with over 100 charging points via Powerline technology. Each MultiNode device can also act as a repeater, allowing the range to be freely extended. An existing MultiNode network can be extended at any time, making it ideal for multi-stage roll-outs. The device and management software automatically creates a network topology and enables dynamic customisation to local conditions, making administration and remote maintenance fast and efficient. Thanks to G.hn Powerline technology and robust encryption, the system offers a stable and secure connection that is safe from unauthorised access.
devolo dLAN Green PHY module
What's more, devolo supports manufacturers of DC charging stations with the devolo Green PHY solution, which enables efficient data communication via the charging cable between charging stations and electric vehicles in accordance with ISO 15118. The Green PHY Module V2 is built on the Qualcomm QCA7006 chipset and offers an Ethernet interface for easy integration. This board enables data transmission via existing power lines, coaxial cables or twisted-pair lines and streamlines the development of customised solutions. A comprehensive software development kit (SDK) is provided to assist with the integration and configuration of the modules.
